Ed Ovett
Hi, I'm Ed Ovett, pioneer podcaster, having produced & hosted Ed's Mixed Bag, host of The Pod 5, and currently producing Mr. Ed's 2-Song Spotlight Presentation for which I host on a regular basis, except when on vacation!
Ed Ovett's bio: I was employed by the School District of Palm Beach County here in sunny Florida from 1985 - 2010. Ed Ovett was in the Non-Instructional category serving as a graphics technician for approx. 8yrs, and then for the next 18 years as a all-around helper for the Fire Alarm, Intrusion Alarm, & Radio depts. The dept. was known as F.I.R. but later the "F" (Fire Alarm) broke off from the School Police dept. to its own dept in maintenance. Ed Ovett's past prior to his employment at the School District, includes The Town Crier Newspaper, The Miami Museum of Science & Planetarium and a brief stint with Miami Dade's Manpower on an ad-hoc committee to help promote tourism basically in Miami Beach. Ed Ovett has also been employed as a behind the scenes technician for a Pennsylvania based company known as The High School Assembly Program, for which we traveled to some 23 states across the USA to promote ECPI, back in the 70's known as the Electronnic Computer Program Institute. A slew of audio visual equipment was used as part of a triple rear-screen projection presentation with an actor out in front to tell high school students via a prepared script about the advantages of attending ECPI after graduation to learn about an up coming lucrative field known as "Computers." The computer Ed Ovett watched over had no monitor and was made by the Spindler & Sauppe (one "p"?) company which utilized a paper punch tape reader. The punch tape ran 3 Kodak Carousel slide projectors with faders and one 16mm movie projector and an audio casette tape deck containing the voice of "Norman, the talking computer." (seems like another lifetime now). Ed Ovett is happily retired now and is fully focusing on music podcasting, although his initial program, Ed's Mixed Bag is currently on a temporary hiatus. He still sometimes records interviews or enjoys being interviewed by other podcasters.
